Georgia Independent Living Unit: Since 2006, Gift for a Child has supported the state of Georgia's independent living program by developing initiatives to support and oversee programs to help older youth in care and those aging out with real life preparation and career planning. We were honored to participate in the state's first Empowerment Summit in 2006. Every year since that first date we have been actively involved in the lives of foster youth helping guide their career decisions, recognizing their academic achievement and providing care packages and a financial lifeline during critical stages of their lives.
Georgia State Adoptions Unit: Our founders are adoptive parents and as a result our organization is very committed to helping children in foster care find their forever family. In 2005, we launched the Heart Gallery Southeast to raise awareness across the state about the needs of children in foster care. Our first event included an exhibit of 83 children waiting to be adopted. Over 80% of these children now have a forever family.
Celebration of Excellence Partners (COEP)*: COEP is a collaboration of six organizations working together to support and recognize the educational achievements of foster youth graduating from high school, vocational school or college. The six participating COEP organizations include juvenal lawyers, business community, faith-based organizations, advocay groups and child welfare leaders representing foster youth. The are responsible for organizing and hosting the annual Celebration of Excellence graduation event.

FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS
Gift for a Child began working with the state of Georgia in 2005 to help raise awareness in faith-based communities about the needs of foster youth. Our Heart Gallery and Picture Adoption exhibits are used by faith-based organizations to educate and generate interest in U.S. adoption by their members. Each year in November, our faith-based organizations rely on Gift for a Child to produce and set up a Heart Gallery display to find families among their members to adopt children in foster care. Our first program with faith-based organizations was launched in 2005 with One Church/One Child.
