» About Gift for a Child

Gift for a Child, Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on raising awareness and finding permanent homes for children in the foster care system needing a family, a home and a future. We work with child welfare agencies, businesses, schools and churches to bring the community closer to the reality that there are thousands of children who need our help finding a family they can call their own.

In the U.S. there are more than 130K children hoping that someone will be willing to be their forever family. We hope you will partner with us toward this cause by helping us make a permanent difference in the lives of children in foster care. Provide the Gift for a Child by adopting, fostering, mentoring or photographing a child.

Rene Gunn, Founder and Executive Director, is an adoptive parent and wanted to share with her community the joy and amazement her child has brought to her family. With the help of three other adoptive parents, she wanted to give children in need of homes an advantage – a way to bring them closer to their forever family.

» Our Mission

Gift for a Child is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring together potential adoptive parents and children in need of families by providing innovative programs that include education, collaboration, and family support. The overall goal of our organization is to give the gift of love and hope to children in need of adoption and to have the opportunity to help even one child find a forever family.

Our Goals:

• Increase the number of children being adopted via integrated community awareness, marketing and education programs
• Support State Family and Children Services programs and private agency programs via separate, self sustaining organization to expand foster and adoption visibility and community support
• Partner with the business and faith based communities to recruit prospective parents and improve adoption outcomes for children in foster care
• Partner with the education community to improve academic outcomes for foster children
• Partner with the medical community to help make therapeutic resources available to adoptive families and children in foster care
