Foster Authors

Several years ago we had a dream to help foster youth share their stories by publishing and distributing works written by them. We are pleased to announce that Gift for a Child has launched foster youth story telling initiatives:  "My Write Story and Foster Authors". 

Foster Authors

Over the last year, we've spent time photographing some exceptional youth that have written incredible mini essays about their experiences in foster care. In  2011, our first two books will be published: "Foster Drift and Celebration You and Me." These books are a collaboration of professional writers and foster youth working together.

My Write Story

Over the last year, Gift for a Child reached out across the United States to find books and stories written by individuals that experienced foster care.  The foster youth and alumni participating in our program are committed to advocating on behalf of all foster youth across the country. Some experienced homelessness, others graduated from college, some achieved success despite moving from place to place and never obtaining a college degree. We are distributing their books for free to foster youth.
